Boy is my face red

Living in NYC you pass hundred’s maybe thousands of people a day. Eventually you’re going to pass a celebrity or two, or people that you know, or if you’re like me, people that you THINK you know.

Last night wasn’t the first time I passed a celebrity and thought I knew them, you know from the gym or the subway or something. But it was the first time I actually SAID something to one of them! While running around in Soho celebrating a friend’s birthday and after several vinos I spotted Kelly Cutrone. Of course at the time I didn’t know her name I just thought she looked vaguely familiar, like maybe someone I’d worked with in the past or someone who uses the same dry cleaner. So I do the thing that anyone in my shoes would have done, I point at her and say, “I know you! But I don’t remember how I know you.” Which at that point in the night may have sounded more like, “Bla! GAh HOuTr%$%$%$ Y08h!” But she smiled and nodded at me, as my friend grabbed my arm and dragged us out the door to the next bar.

All the way down the street it was gnawing at me, how do I know her, how do I know her?! Then it hit me. POW! I hit myself in the head; I should have had a V8 style. I don’t actually KNOW her; I’ve actually seen her on TV! She has worked with someone alright. But it wasn’t me! She is Lauren Conrad and Whitney’s boss from The Hills! Given the circumstances and how incredibly bitchy she comes off as on the show I’m surprised at how nice she was about the incident.
